Heritage Center Museums

Heritage Center I – 1884 Methodist Church – The original church was purchased by the Sheridan County Historical Society and Hay Springs Committee in 1967. Displays were placed before extensive outside work was completed that included a new roof and paint.

Other buildings were added to the grounds beginning in the 1980s and down to the present. These building include a refurbished one room country school and an original claim shack. Displays inside the museum include a Methodist Church display, old photographs, many items from early day Hay Springs and the surrounding area and much more.

Heritage Center II – Strotheide Building – This building is being turned into Heritage Center II with displays being added as refurbishing allows. Among these are the Decastro Dental Office, Boy Scouts, a Model A fire truck, country post office, Camp Sheridan (1874-1881), Spotted Tail Agency (1874-1877), black smith shop, Northwestern State Bank, Crazy Horse, and a Mari Sandoz area.
