Riverview/Cook Cemetery Comes Alive!

“Riverview/Cook Cemetery Comes Alive!” on Saturday, September 29, 2007, 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the 1300 Block of Juliana Street.

Walk with us into the past and meet ten of West Virginia’s and Parkersburg’s former residents.

Current residents of the Historic District in period dress will “come alive” and speak to tour-goers about their lives in early Parkersburg. Among those being portrayed are Judge John Jay Jackson, Captain George Deming, Henry Logan, Col. Wellington Vrooman and Narcissa Neal Vrooman, Clara Lavassor Diss Debar (Wife of Joseph H. Dis Debar), James A. Wetherall, Henry & Ann Dils, and Elizabeth A. Cook.

There will be an exhibit at the Art Center of works of Joseph H. Diss Debar, creator of the West Virginia State Seal.

The cost for the presentation and refreshments is $10.00 for adults. Children under 10, with an adult, are free.

A DVD of the presentation will be available for $5.00. All proceeds will go toward improvements to the Cemetery and Julia-Ann Square Historic District.

Tickets may be purchased by calling 304-422-9861. Tour guests may park at the First Presbyterian Church, 1341 Juliana Street, Parkersburg.
