Adair County Benefit Chili Cook-Off
Annual Adair County Benefit Chili Cook-Off is held the second Saturday in October on the Adair County Courthouse lawn. A section of Division Street is closed between 2nd and 3rd Streets to accomodate the chili cooks. The event usually kicks off around 8:00 am for the cooks to begin preparing their chili and then at 11:oo am all chilis are open for public tasting.
The Adair County Benefit Committee was created in October 2001 as a way for the people of Stilwell to make donations to help with the 9/11 crisis. After that first year, the committee localized the benefit and have made donations to the local Food Pantry, bought Christmas presents for foster children, and are now working towards building a park.
