Montana

Montana is about scale and time. Distances are longer, and the best trips are the ones where you don’t try to compress them.

The western side carries more of the classic mountain experience – forests, rivers, and tighter travel routes. Move east and the state opens into wide plains and long horizons, where the experience becomes more about movement than stopping.

Because of that, planning is less about hitting a list and more about understanding how far you can reasonably go in a day. The payoff is that when you do stop, it feels earned.

Summer is the most flexible season, but fall can be just as strong if you’re willing to accept shorter windows and changing conditions.
