Bethel College

North Newton is home of Bethel College. Built in 1888, the striking Bethel College Administration building made of Kansas limestone in the Romanesque Revival style attracted the community’s attention from the very beginning.

Travelers on the Santa Fe approaching Newton also had the opportunity to view the unusual, castle like building from miles away. Bethel College, founded in 1887 by progressive German-speaking Mennonites, is now a thriving private, liberal arts college.
