Friends of Fort Knox

Visit the top historic site in the state of Maine: historic Fort Knox, located on the banks of the Penobscot River in Prospect. The Fort was constructed during 1844-1869 to thwart British invasion but never came under hostile fire. Unscathed by battle and beautifully restored during the last dozen years, the Fort offers much to the novice and military buff alike.
