McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park
Treat yourself to a few hours of outdoor fun at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. Ride the train through the park’s scenic settings, take a spin on the carousel and browse the railroad museum and store. See the railroad clubs play with their smaller-scale trains in the old-time bunkhouse. Taste hand-dipped icecream from Hartley’s General Store. Two playgrounds are located in the park. Food, drinks and souvenirs are available. The park will accommodate birthday parties. There is a minimal charge for the train ride, carousel ride and museum.
Guy Stillman; a philanthropist, civic leader, and businessman, became interested in America’s Railroad Heritage while studying at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Stillman’s most enduring contribution to railroad lore, was building a complete railroad to precise scale for the enjoyment of his six children. The Paradise and Pacific Railroad, accurately duplicates a scaled down version of the Colorado narrow gauge railroad. The railroad also includes a depot, water tower, pump house, crossing stations and switches. Through efforts of the Scottsdale Railroad and Mechanical Society, the Paradise and Pacific Railroad has become the centerpiece of the park.
