South Race Street Historic District

Densely developed community of houses, churches, and neighborhood stores associated with the manufacturing and rail cooridor which skirts the southern edge of the district. Part of the district was a planned subdivision undertaken by the Statesville Land and Manufacturing Company in 1894. Examples of Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, and brick Gothic Revival can be found throughout the district.
