Plainview
Not many communities can say they were the key location for a film nominated for six Academy Awards. But Plainview can. Plainview, Nebraska, located in northeast Nebraska, is the home of the fictional community of “Hawthorne” from the movie, “Nebraska.” Academy Award-winning director and Nebraska native, Alexander Payne, filmed much of “Nebraska” in Plainview in the fall of 2012.
Returning to life after its notoriety, Plainview is home to about 1,200 people in Pierce County and offers nearly everything residents could want like amenities and health care to education and activities. The community is home to a hospital, clinic, nursing home and pharmacy. It has both a public and private elementary school, and public high school, and is just 35 minutes in proximity to a community college.
Plainview has a variety of clubs and organizations with a “something for everyone” feel. Whether you want to volunteer or simply enjoy the social aspect of activities, there’s something for you in Plainview.
