American Village Grand Opening of the Southern Living Showcase House
205-665-3535. www.americanvillage.org. Admission charged. The American Village—Tours begin at the Southern Living® Showcase House, named the James B. and Sylvia S. Braswell President’s House, patterned after the country’s first presidential residence (1790-1800). The third such Showcase house ever built in Southern Living’s history draws upon historical design, serving as a unique example of how such architecture can be the basis for today’s family home.
