Homeschoolers Programs
Please choose only one of the two programs available this month. Habitat Seasons is a repeat from last spring and one of our regular school programs. Herpetology will be debuting as a Homeschool program for those avidly interested in reptiles and amphibians.
Time: 1:00-2:30 p.m.
Ages: 6-12
HABITAT SEASONS
Students will learn the 4 basic parts a habitat must include to support the animals that call it home, and how adaptations of specific plants and animals help them to survive. We will have activities and discussion at prairie, forest, and wetland habitats. Plan to be outdoors for most of the program. Hands-on time with a live animal and learning its adaptations is included. Limit of 20 children. Please call to register.
HERPETOLOGY
As you can tell from the popularity of the many shows on the Discovery Channel and Animal Planet, the study of reptiles and amphibians fascinates many people in the world. But how much do people know about the diverse species of reptiles and amphibians living in their own state or country? Missouri has 42 species of amphibians and 82 species of reptiles, all with their own unique habits and behaviors. Students will learn distinctive differences between reptiles and amphibians, gain in depth knowledge of many species that live in Missouri, and have hands-on time with our wonderful education animals. Limit of 20 children. Please call to register.
