Traditional Rug Hooking Exhibition

Aug
10–15

A craft originating for practical purposes over 150 years ago has blossomed into an amazing modern-day expression of creativity. Using the same techniques as long ago, simple strips of wool fabric and burlap backings are transformed into beautiful works of art that can be enjoyed by all. For six days in August, an exhibit of Traditional Hooked Rugs will be on display in Founders Hall at Sauder Village. The exhibit has been referred to as one of the best exhibits of traditional hooked rugs in the country. Rug hookers from more than ten states will be contributing their pieces for the display and a rug hooking retreat and workshops are available for those wanting to learn more about this craft. There will also be rug hookers demonstrating throughout the week as well as vendor booths to purchase supplies. Retreat, exhibition and workshop details and registration forms are available online at http://www.saudervillage.org
