Waurika Lake, OK

Waurika Lake, Oklahoma

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers wishes you an enjoyable stay at the Waurika Lake project. At normal pool the lake is approximately two miles wide and eleven miles long with 80 miles of shoreline and a surface area of 10,000 acres.

The lake offers the visitor extensive opportunities for a memorable outdoor recreation experience. The Waurika dam is located on Beaver Creek, a tributary of the Red River, about six miles northwest of Waurika, Oklahoma. Visitors to Waurika Lake will find the dam structure itself an impressive sight. A road runs across the top of the dam and access roads are located at each end of the dam. The lake is set in rolling prairies interspersed with croplands and timbered areas. Protection and blending with the natural environment was a primary concern in the design and construction of Waurika Lake. Wherever possible, trees, shrubs, and other desirable vegetation were left in their natural state in order to enhance the environment. The lake lies in portions of Jefferson, Stephens, and Cotton Counties. Overnight accommodations, services, and supplies are available at nearby communities.
