The building, begun in 1722 and interrupted by the Revolution, was completed in 1787. In 1852, the building was remodeled with plans by Francis D. Lee that were inspired by the Chapel of Henry VII in England's Westminster Abbey. Special features include a handpainted chancel window and a fan tracery ceiling.
