Visit the historic location of the Battle of Black Jack as tour season begins the first Saturday in May at 1pm! There will be a guided tour by John Brown of the battlefield and historical information behind John Brown, the Battle of Black Jack, Bleeding Kansas, and the role that the Santa Fe Trail played in the first battle of the Civil War. Tours will continue on Saturdays and Sundays until October. The battlefield and park is located 3 miles east of Baldwin City, KS and ¼ mile south of Highway 56 in rural Douglas County Kansas.

Barth Hall and the "Beehive"

Barth Hall, the building on the corner of Kearney and McCellan Avenues, was the home in 1881 of the School of Application for Cavalry and Infantry, the predecessor of the Command and General Staff College. The large building directly west of Barth Hall is known as the "Beehive." Built in 1882
