Event Details

Our St. Patrick's Day Parade is the largest in Kansas and is accompanied each year by a duck race, which help fund our sister city program dignitaries from Listowel, Ireland. Sunday nearest St. Patrick's Day.

General Grant's Statue

Sculpted by Loredo Taft, in 1889, the statue and the pedestal are 9 feet tall each. It was the largest statue of its type in the Midwest when it was installed.

National Cemetery

Designated a National Cemetery by President Abraham Lincoln in 1862 along with eleven others, military graves date back to 1846. Today, more than 20,000 veterans representing every war since 1812 are buried in the cemetery. Two soldiers from Operation Desert Storm were interred here in 1991.
