Battle of Cabin Creek Reenactment
Event Details
TRIENIAL 2019 - Imagine yourself and your family going back in time to 1864, sitting at a stage station located in Oklahoma's Indian Territory on Cabin Creek. A church, stage station, hospital and stockade buildings are clustered along a busy military road connecting Fort Scott, Kansas to Fort Gibson, with supply wagons bringing settlers and goods into the territory. That vision becomes a reality every third year since 1992 at a little community south of Vinita.
A variety of events are always scheduled for the Cabin Creek Reenactment weekend. Authentic camps will be set up, representing Union and Confederate forces of the 1860s at the camp site area. The camps are open to the public, with the opportunity to visit with re-enactors and hear their stories. A generic battle scenario for all United States and Confederate State soldiers will be staged Saturday afternoon, plus numerous other events. The historic battle will begin at 1:00 p.m..
Camps will be open to the public again on Sunday morning, with church services at 10:30 a.m..
Camping facilities, ample parking and concessions will be available.
