Cisco, Texas

Established in 1881, Cisco developed as a marketing and distribution center for the large cattle and agricultural area. The economy was stimulated by the discovery of the Ranger oil pool in 1917. Cisco continues as a center for oil and gas production, along with diversified agriculture and manufacturing. It is the home of Cisco Junior College.

There are several sites around the Cisco where excellent fossil hunting can be found.
