Anderson, Texas
The historic seat of Grimes County, Anderson was established in 1834 on La Bahia Road, the centuries-old Indian trail that stretched from Louisiana through Texas. During the Civil War, the local arms factory produced cannons, cannon balls, rifles, pistols, swords, and gunpowder. Today Anderson is the commercial center for a rich agricultural area, and it contains many historic structures, including a Victorian 1891 courthouse which is open during working hours.
