York County Courthouse - NHR York, Nebraska has been the county seat of
York County since its organization in 1870. The
first session of the Board of County
Commissioners was held in the old pre-emption
house. Soon, however, the County had offices
situated in the public square, on the site occupied
by the present building. Plans for the new
structure began in July 1885. After some delays
construction began and the new courthouse
opened in 1888. - Listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
