The Ditch Bayou Battlefield of 1864 has changed greatly in the post-war years, though the ditch where Colonel Colton Greene's Rebels inflicted significant casualties on General Andrew J. Smith's attacking Federals on June 6, 1864 still cuts its path into Lake Chicot. A historic marker on Ark. 82 notes the site of the battle and combat is interpreted in displays at nearby Lake Chicot State Park. This was the largest battle in Chicot County and the last significant battle on Arkansas soil. It is part of a driving tour of several Civil War sites along Lake Chicot. Brochures are available at the park.
