Apache County Historical Society Museum

category : Museums
One of the finest museums in the White Mountains is located in St. Johns. The Apache County Historical Society Museum houses a variety of displays, including a set of prehistoric Wooly Mammoth tusks and a camels leg bone--both estimated to be approximately 24,000 years old!

First came the dinosaurs to the banks of the Little Colorado River, and then the Indians. In (1540) Coronado crossed the river near St. Johns and later descendants of the Conquistadors settled here. Pioneer families arrived from the East in the 1880's.

The rich history of this area is preserved in the Apache County Historical Museum. Come and see the fascinating exhibits of the past!
