This new guidebook lets you explore geologic features from the continental collisions that began shaping the state a billion years ago, to the sediments and lavas of the the central rift valley formed while Pangaea tore itself apart a few hundred million years ago, to remnants of the Ice Age that locked the state in ice tens of thousands of years ago, to features and minerals of our landscape today.

Written by Connecticut geologist Greg McHone. With field trips to sites in Salem, East Haddam, Deep River, East Hampton, Pomfret, Fairfield, Kent, Portland, Rocky Hill, Manchester, East Granby, Simsbury, Middlefield, Middletown, Meriden, Southbury, Madison, Essex, East Haddam, Ledyard, Bristol, Groton, East Hartford and New Haven.
