This 17,000 square-foot museum features the permanent exhibit "Doorways: A History of Iowa's African Americans." The exhibit explores Africa's role in slavery, and U.S. and Iowa history on African Americans. Changing exhibits are featured in the Gale Sayers Gallery. Educational programs and special events also offered.
Restored savannas, prairies and woodlands cover 210 acres. Cedar Greenbelt Recreation Trail and Sac and Fox National Recreation Trail cross the property. Buildings include auditorium, "maple syruping"
