category : Historic Homes
The Ray House is a three story Queen Anne style house built 1893-4.The entire building, including the attic, was lit by electricity. A motor pumped water from the cistern to a tank in the attic which supplied hot and cold water to all parts of the house, except the "water closets" which used city water. Throughout the house there are beveled and stained glass windows. The six coal burning fireplaces each have a different design in the ceramic tile surrounds. The Ray House and matching Carriage House were placed on the National Registry of Historic Places in 1982.
