The original Carpenter Gothic-style house was built around 1868 and consisted of locally produced brick. The pressed tin ceiling and walls in the kitchen are believed to have been made by the original owner or his firm. A garage was added to the sunroom to accommodate the wife's electric car. The Benton County Historical Society houses it's genealogy and history collection in the sunroom. There are displays in other areas of the house of local interest. Placed on the National Registry of Historic Districts in 2012.
