Charleston's reputation as a city of murals is growing more and more as visitors learn of the project. The murals around the square are worth a walking tour. The tour spans a seven block area.

This mural was painted by Glen C. Davies of Urbana. The mural is located on the east side of 5th street between Monroe and Jackson Avenues and painted on the side of the Chamber of Commerce Building.

President elect Abraham Lincoln is shown in this 10' x 4' trompe l'oeil doorway bidding farewell to his stepmother, Sarah Bush Lincoln on January 31, 1861, at the Moore Home. Both Mrs. Lincoln and Abraham Lincoln testified to the affectionate nature of their relationship with each other. In her farewell to her stepson, Sarah Bush Lincoln told him she felt she would never be permitted to see him again - that his enemies would assassinate him.

Lincoln reassured his stepmother and told her they would see each other again, that she should trust in the Lord that all would be well. The Moore Home State Historic Site is located seven miles south of Charleston on South 4th Street.
