Twenty-six pieces of outdoor sculpture by Midwest artists are exhibited on the Avenues of downtown Effingham. The exhibit changes each July 1. There are several permanent pieces, but about 20 new ones join the exhibit each year.

The current Effingham County Courthouse was built in 1871 after Effingham was named the county seat. An earlier 1850's courthouse had been on the site. The courhouse retains a pristine exterior and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places
