The Mendota Museum & Historical Society's Mission is to promote the preservation of the history of Mendota, its railroads and recognizing agricultural heritage through three museums, the Breaking the Prairie Museum, the Hume-Carnegie Museum, and the Union Depot Railroad Museum.
The Hume-Carnegie Museum is located in a restored 1904 Andrew Carnegie library building
* Extensive photographic collection depicting over 100 years of Mendota area history
* Wild Bill Hickok Collection
* Three Western Cottage organs and a Carpenter organ manufactured in Mendota in late 1800s
* Over 5000 photographs and items of memorabilia from the past 150 years
* Medical exhibit of items from early 1920s Drs. Cook offices
* Gift shop items
