Lincoln slept at the Aplington House two nights in 1856. Lincoln was a personal friend of Senator Aplington, the founder of Polo. There is history of Polo and a Olge County Military Museum with artifacts of all wars.

The 1878 Henry School, on the Galena Trail, was used as a school until 1957. The Polo Historical Society has turned it back into an old country school which includes a hand painted stage curtain, displays of the Black Hawk War of 1832
