The Kansas Landscape Arboretum offers a glimpse of Kansas nature at its best. As you stroll through over 193 wooded acres you can see over 1,000 species of trees and shrubs, Bronze plaques along the Memorial Tree Walk identify over 100 separate species. Three nature trails carved through the woods provide the setting for more secluded adventuring. A flower garden near the farm house on the grounds blooms with many varieties.
Three nature trails are open to the public. The "long" trail is about one mile, and the "short" trail is about 1/4 mile. Sections of tree stumps are placed along the trail at intervals for rest or contemplating nature. Stump sitting is also a good way to bird watch. Because of the arboretum's close proximity to the lake, both land and water birds can be viewed there.
