Coronado Heights is a twenty-six acre virgin prairie park overlooking the Smoky Valley. The first buildings of Lindsborg were at the foot of this hill. Legend says it was also a lookout for Coronado's party on their 1541 journey into Kansas. This is one of the two highest lookout points in Kansas.
The park has more than a little of the Spanish theme. A stone fortress is really a picnic area with a rustic stone bench and table and an enclosed fireplace, and its atmosphere is such that one would not be surprised to see Coronado himself enter the building. Picnic areas, also made of stone in rustic design, and an outdoor grill, are placed strategically on the edges of the hilltop. Food is guaranteed to taste better when seasoned with the wide, dramatic view of the countryside below!
