Carriage Factory Gallery & Park In 1883-1884, one of Newton's largest industries was established, J.J. Krehbiel's Carriage Factory. Mr. Krehbiel was one of the founders of Bethel College. In 1993, the building was deeded to the Newton Art Association. Fred Krehbiel, great grandson of J.J. Krehbiel, helped the Art Association construct the gallery and museum and purchased the lots adjacent to the carriage Factory building for a memorial park. The Carriage Factory Park is a memorial to J.J. Krehbiel and is surrounded by the rod iron fence that was originally around the J.J. Krehbiel family home. Inside The Carriage Factory you can view and purchase original paintings, glassware, pottery and other artworks by Kansas artists.
