The Nicodemus National Historic Site preserves, protects and interprets the only remaining western town established by African Americans during the Reconstruction Period following the Civil War.
At the Visitor Center located inside the Nicodemus Township Hall, south of the Roadside Park, off Highway 24, you can view exhibits and learn about the history of Nicodemus and Blacks in the West.
Walking Tours are available to view the five historic buildings, part of a living community. The five historic buildings are physical expressions of the pillars of the African-American community - church, self-government, education, home, and business.
