Shawnee, Kansas

The Theatre in the Park is the largest outdoor community theatre in the country with Broadway style musicals and a variety of special events. The outdoor amphitheatre is tucked into 10 beautiful acres in Shawnee Mission Park with its own entrance. Located just north of I-435 Highway and 87th Street, our facility is easily accessible from anywhere in the Kansas City metropolitan area.

Theatre patrons bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnic baskets and come early (gates open at 6.30pm every performance evening) to enjoy the park setting before the show begins at 8.30pm. Theatre in the Park presents SEVEN performances of each of our shows. Opening night for our productions falls on a Friday night with performances Friday through Sunday the first week and Wednesday through Saturday evenings the following week. Typically, each performance lasts about 2 hours with a 20 minute intermission. On performance nights, the box office opens at 6:00 p.m., the theatre seating bowl opens at 6:30 p.m. (allowing plenty of time for picnicing and fellowship), and curtain is at 8:30 p.m.

Visit us online and buy tickets to avoid standing in line at the box office.
