Mission Lake

Mission Lake Located in the Northeast corner of Horton, Mission Lake is easily accessible from either US-73 or from Highway K-20/US-73. It has 278 acres of camping grounds with over 100 RV spaces that include individual electrical hook-ups, shower houses, boating, water skiing, jet skiing, fishing, horseshoes, sand volleyball, basketball, playgrounds, picnic areas, shelter houses, and golf course.

An added feature to the Mission Lake is the "Park Lake" which lies next to US-73/K-20 at the east edge of Horton. This small lake provides excellent fishing and the east side is handicap accessible. Annual fishing contests and bike-a-thons are held on the shores of "Park Lake" and provide for a full and fun day for the area children. A floating dock was built by the members of the Horton Fish & Game Club. A railing is provided so wheelchairs can safely go out onto the dock.

Camping season is open from April 1st to October 31st:

$10/$90.00, Daily/Season Jet Ski

Electric hook-ups are available for $7.00 a day. These permits can be obtained at the caretakers quarters located on the west side of the lake.

The Post Office Murals

The Horton Post Office was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. The two murals on the Walls, "Picnic in Kansas" and "Changing of Horses for the Pony Express" were painted by Colorado artist, Kenneth Evett in 1938 and 1939
