Ness City's First Schoolhouse

category : Historic Schoolhouses
Ness City's First Schoolhouse The pioneer Pembleton family purchased the Old Echo Print Shop, a small native stone building built in 1882, which had at one time been the first schoolhouse in Ness City, and the Pembletons donated it to the Historical Society. Due to the growing number of artifacts, an addition was built on the east and south sides of the schoolhouse. The building is still owned by the Historical Society.

The schoolhouse has been restored like an old time schoolroom and many artifacts are stored in the addition.
