Long Branch Lake Area Hunting
category : Hunting

The Corps licensed 2,454 acres at the north end of the lake to the Missouri Department of Conservation for wildlife management purposes. Adjacent to this area is the 2,040 acre Department of Conservation owned Atlanta Conservation Area. These two areas are managed as one 4,500 acre unit to make up the Atlanta/Long Branch Conservation Area.
Macon County is a popular Missouri destination for deer and turkey hunters. Numbers of deer and turkey taken each season consistently place Macon county in the top three Missouri counties for deer and turkey.
Long Branch has grown in popularity with waterfowl hunters. The Corps of Engineers, by means of a waterfowl blind permit program, allows the placement of seasonal waterfowl blinds on some areas of the lake.
