Leaping Lagomorph Rare Breeds
category : Farm Life

The farm comprises 37 acres for the Alpacas and the Jacob sheep, and is dedicated to preserving livestock breeds that have become endangered by the rise of corporate agriculture. The latest additions, Moose, Joey, Constellation, and Oreo, the Jacob sheep are the first step in creating a rare breeds haven and focusing on sustainable agriculture.
In addition to the acreage, there is a separate building for the yarn store, Sumptuous Yarns. Andrea gives lessons in all aspects of crocheting, knitting, spinning, weaving, and needle felting. The farm is an on-going endeavor that is constantly growing and changing.
With degrees in Communications, Andrea MacDonald is a fiber artisan by avocation. She has been weaving, spinning, knitting, and braiding starting at age 8, and is currently pursing her love of Alpaca fleece by being an Alpaca fleece judge and often Alpaca show clerk.
Plans for 2008 include farm stays for tourists.
