Truman Fishing

category : Fishing
Truman Fishing Truman Lake is nationally known for its excellent crappie and largemouth bass fishing. The 55,600 acre reservoir is fed by four major rivers and several smaller streams, creating a broad degree of diversity within the reservoir. Over 8,800 acres of timber were left standing in the lake to improve aquatic habitat. In addition to crappie and largemouth bass, the lake supports good populations of both blue and flathead catfish. Truman Lake has been popular with tournament fishermen for many years.

Full service marinas and campgrounds are conveniently located to provide access and accommodations. During the past few years, fish spawns have been good and fishing has been exciting. Please keep in mind that day use fees are required to launch boats at any Corps managed boat ramp.

Truman State Park offers two paved boat-launching ramps for access to Truman Lake year-round. A two-lane boat ramp located in the campground is for use by campers only, and a four-lane boat ramp is available to the public near the large parking lot, which offers ample space for cars, trucks and boat trailers. There are no launch fees or motor restrictions in the state park.

Bledsoe Ferry Park, located just downstream of Truman Dam, is one of the most popular bank fishing areas in the State of Missouri. The upper end of the Lake of the Ozarks extends to the back side of Truman Dam. In the spring of the year, fish from Lake of the Ozarks move upstream and congregate below the dam creating some great bank fishing.
