Adamson Log Cabin
category : Museums
Built in 1845, this log cabin is one of the few remaining authentic pioneer homes in the region. Since this area did not have the long, straight pine logs of the north country, in those days, if you wanted a big cabin, you built a small one the first year to have shelter for the winter. You built another cabin later and finally joined them together with an open space or "dog trot" between them (which was often later sided in for a third room).
It offers visitors an opportunity to see what life was like in this area when the cabin was still new, nearly 150 years ago.
Hours: The museum and cabin are open on Sundays, 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Memorial Day weekend through October, and by appointment.
Address: From the town square go out Center Street cast to East Street, then left for about 1/2 mile.
