A scenic drive in Battle Park will take you through the area from which Rocky Mount got its name. The park is the site of the original village of Rocky Mount and its first post office circa 1816. The park offers picnic facilities, scenic overlooks, walks along the Tar River, and a marble monument to local Confederates who served in the war.
