Lowenstein-Henkel House

1893. Located in the Mitchell College Historic District in Statesville. This is the most ornate Queen Anne Victorian House in Iredell Co. and rankded in the top ten of similiar construction in the state. Corner turret with stained glass windows and paneled sunbursts, recessed balcony, distinctive bracketed porch, and scalloped woodwork. The house was moved to its present site by the Historic Iredell Foundation and Historic Preservation Fund of NC. The dwelling was orginally built for Dr. Julius Lowenstein, a distiller, but was owned for many years by the prominent Henkel family.
