1756-1888. Statesville's only cemetery until the late 1880's. Bounded by a rock wall which contains on the NE corner one of the four original corner posts of the city! Cemetery containes graves of many Revolutionary War soldiers and many ornate and interesting markers.

Statesville, NC Historic Buildings 1858 bridge has a twin in Salisbury. It is one of the few stuccoed brick bridges left in the South. The famous train wreck occurred in 1891, when there was a terrible loss of life. Legend claims that on teh 50th anniversary of the wreck a woman witnessed it all over again!
