This 190-acre state natural area includes covers most of Occoneechee Mountain with an 867-foot-high summit, part of the Eno River, hiking trails, scenic overlooks and two fishing ponds. There is a park ranger on site. Historic and nature-related educational programs are available.
Now used as the Town Hall, this early 19th-century house was once owned by Chief Justice Thomas Ruffin, who died there in 1870. The house has notable interior woodwork and six interesting outbuildings. Free tours available.
