Gold Hill Mines Historic Park is a 70 acre park adjacent to the historic gold mining town of Gold Hill, NC. The park is home of the Barnhardt and Randolph Gold Mines, which became the richest mining territory east of the Mississippi during the early to mid-1800's. First gold discovery in Gold Hill was 1824.
Tours of the historic sites in the park are available by reservation. Sites include: The Gold Hill Jail, Barnhardt, Randolph and Miller Shafts, Assay Office and Powder House. Shops in the Historic Village of Gold Hill are open Wednesday - Saturday 11AM - 4PM, Sunday noon-3PM. (Some shops may not be open for this full schedule. Best day to visit would be Saturday)
