The museum is located in the Best House that was constructed in 1907. This is one of seven buildings on the premises. Another is the Bunting Log Cabin built around 1750, and it is one of the oldest structures in Eastern North Carolina. The unique buildings feature a variety of antiques and artifacts that reflect the heritage of Sampson County and the surrounding area. Museum grounds include 1916 mobile jail, a 1941 Ford fire truck, a 70-year-old outhouse, a smokehouse, turpentine display, Civil War, WWI and WWII artifacts along with early medical equipment. The Grange Agriculture Building houses farm equipment from the 1800s to the 1960s.
