Adjacent to Historic Oakwood, Oakwood Cemetery is the resting place of 2,800 Confederate soldiers, five Civil War generals, seven governors and numerous US Senators. Established in 1869, it is an excellent example of a nearly Victorian cemetery with abundance of Victorian-era monuments and statuary art.
