Founded in 1842, Saint Mary's school is an independent, Episcopal, college-preparatory, boarding and day school for girls in grades 9-12. The 23-acre campus in the heart of Raleigh and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Five of the school's buildings are Raleigh historic sites. Saint Mary's Chapel, a striking neogothic structure which dates back to 1856, also is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
