Cliffs of the Neuse State Park

Witness the effects of the forces of erosion which have carved and chiseled cliffs in the west bank of the Neuse River. Here ancient mountain communities meet coastal ones and mountain galax grows on rich slopes overlooking coastal trees draped in Spanish moss. This 750-acre park on the Neuse River features a 90-foot-high sand cliff, three hiking trails (1/2 mile each), picnic area, family camping, group camping, lake swimming, fishing and canoeing on the river. Creative dioramas and audio visuals in the museum depict the unique geology and natural history of the area. Free. Fee for camping, swimming.Newly appointed to the NC Birding Trail.
